Punkofnice - What is the pre CO elders meeting?

as i mentioned in an earlier post, its the co visit at my parents cong this week and i know that tues night my dad was at a meeting until midnight.

could that have been one of these meetings?

and what do they discuss for so long?.

its the co visit in my parents cong this week.

i saw them early this morning just as they were getting ready to go out in field service and my mother said ''we really should have gotten a hair cut before this visit'' .

mum was dolled up to the nines to go out on service.

Do JW's only help JW's in a disaster zone?

i've heard lots of stories over the years of the wonderful job the jw's do in assisting those in need in disaster zones whether they be earthquakes or floods.

it would always be reported that the witnesses were the most organised in setting up camps etc and would out do the red cross and other such organisitions.

but also that they would quickly set up mini congregations to keep the disaster struck brothers spiritually fed.. has anyone here been involved in disaster relief work with the witnesses to clarify:.

whilst my parents were at the meeting yesterday i let myself in to their house to look through photos.

i was looking for old family photos for a family gathering we are planning as a surprise for my folks.

anyway, there were tons of pics of them at bethel visits throughout the world.

yesterday my elder dad (i think he's still an elder) dropped me home and coming up the hill to my house were two young women strolling along at snails pace carrying what looked like bibles.

i didn't say a word but my dad started laughing and said.

''they look like sisters don't they.

Do you think the British are a proud nation?

i think we are to a degree but i think its on a different level to the americans.

the impression i get (from watching us tv and news) is that the majority of americans come across as being proud to be american and quite a possitive nation.

whereas us brits will display pride as a nation when we have to.

one memory that sticks in my brain was when i was around 5 or 6 years old and our meetins were held in a local school gym.

the loos were at the end of a corridor.

you had to pass the cloakroom before reaching the ladies.

3 yr old tells school friends they'll be destroyed at Armageddon

every now and then my mum reminds me of the time when she was called to my nursery school by the head teacher because i had been telling all my friends that they would be destroyed at armageddon.

can you imagine what the other parents must have thought when little johnny and little doris went home crying asking why they were going to be destroyed for not sharing a toy.. my mum seems to think it hilarious and implies that i was the one being naughty for saying it in the first place.

i should never have learnt such things!!
